The short version
Some links may support the site
Affiliate income can help pay for products, testing, hosting, and the time required to create useful guides. It does not purchase a recommendation, improve a verdict, or give a retailer control over coverage.
How links are labeled
The disclosure stays close to the recommendation
Pages containing affiliate links will include a clear notice near the relevant recommendation or links. We will not rely on this policy page alone, hide the relationship in fine print, or use vague wording that readers have to decode.
Examples may include “Affiliate link,” “We may earn a commission,” or another direct explanation that matches the relationship.
Review products
Free, discounted, and loaned products are disclosed
If a manufacturer or retailer provides a product, discount, extended loan, travel, event access, or another benefit connected to coverage, the article or video will say so clearly. A product that must be returned can still create a relationship worth disclosing.
Products we purchase normally do not need a special relationship disclosure, but we may still identify them as independently purchased when that context is useful.
Sponsored content
Paid work never pretends to be independent editorial
Any sponsored content will be labeled prominently. Value Over Hype will not accept payment for a guaranteed positive review, hide required criticism, or claim personal experience with a product that was not actually tested.
Prices and retailers
Buying decisions remain yours
Prices, availability, seller terms, and product configurations can change after publication. Check the retailer’s current listing and return policy before purchasing. An affiliate link does not make the linked retailer the only or automatically best place to buy.
Our disclosure approach follows the principles in the Federal Trade Commission’s endorsement guidance.
