iPhone Duo preorders: a January 2027 delivery estimate

Apple’s U.S. store showed January 25 for a new 1TB Star White order in our launch-day check. Here is the exact snapshot, its limits, and why a long wait is not a reason to overspend.

The exact Apple Store result we saw

At approximately 12:15 p.m. Eastern on October 16, Apple’s U.S. store displayed Monday, January 25, 2027 delivery for a new iPhone Duo 1TB in Star White, with delivery ZIP 10001 shown on the page. The selected outright price was $2,599 before tax. We checked the no-trade-in, connect-to-a-carrier-later configuration without AppleCare; we did not place an order.

That is a point-in-time result for one configuration and one displayed destination. Other colors, capacities, carrier choices, pickup locations or delivery addresses may show different results. Check the completed selection you actually intend to buy. The date shown during our check is an estimate, not a promise that it remains available now.

October 23 is still the first-availability date

Apple announced iPhone Duo on September 9. Its launch announcement scheduled preorders for October 16 at 5 a.m. Pacific, with first availability on October 23 in more than 70 countries and regions, followed by 28 additional markets on October 30. U.S. pricing starts at $1,999; the 1TB configuration we checked costs more.

A first-availability date describes the start of the rollout. It does not guarantee that a fresh order for every configuration will arrive that day. A January estimate on a new order therefore should not be described as Apple moving the entire launch to January.

A long estimate does not tell us how fast stock went

The gap between launch week and the date in this store check is striking. But this observation cannot establish how many phones Apple sold, how much stock was allocated, or how quickly the first delivery slots disappeared. We have not verified the claim that iPhone Duo sold out in seconds.

It also does not establish that every model is sold out worldwide. Availability is a configuration-and-location question. We would need broader, time-stamped evidence before making a global sellout or record-demand claim.

Our take: do not let the wait choose your budget

Scarcity can make a purchase feel like a race. Our view is that the useful question is still whether the phone solves a problem worth its full price. Paying for storage you do not need, or a reseller premium you had not budgeted for, does not become sensible simply because a delivery estimate is far away.

If your current phone works, the wait gives you time to look for independent testing of the hinge, everyday comfort, battery life and app behavior. Our existing iPhone Duo preview lists the questions we plan to test. We have not yet published a hands-on verdict or awarded this phone a Value Score.

Already ordered? Check your own order status

This store result concerns a new purchase selection. It is not evidence that an existing customer’s order has been delayed. Use the delivery estimate and status attached to your own order, and any direct update from the seller.

Do not cancel a workable order just because a public product page now shows a different date. Before changing anything, compare the exact replacement offer, full price and displayed arrival estimate. A new selection may not preserve the position or terms of an earlier order.

The useful check before you commit

Write down the exact capacity, finish, seller, carrier choice, delivery address and arrival window. Compare the full cost, including tax and any accessories or protection you actually want. If you need a phone by a fixed date, judge the offer against that deadline rather than the general launch date.

Save the order confirmation if you decide to buy. If you decide to wait, a later estimate is not a failure to act quickly enough. A purchase that fits your needs and budget matters more than winning a launch-day queue.
