Apple HomeView, TV 4K and HomePod mini 2: announced, but worth the price?
HomeView and Apple TV 4K cost $299; HomePod mini 2 costs $149. The launch dates are confirmed, but our value verdict is still to wait.

The announcement happened. Here are the actual US prices.
Apple announced HomeView, the fourth-generation Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini 2 on October 13. This replaces our earlier event preview: the products are no longer rumors, but announcement and delivery are different milestones.
As checked October 23, Apple lists both the tabletop HomeView and HomeView (Wall Mounted) at $299, with preorders open and availability starting November 13. The new Apple TV 4K is also $299 with November 13 availability. HomePod mini 2 is $149, with availability starting October 30. These are US Apple prices, not a claim of immediate local stock or a guaranteed delivery date for a new order.

HomeView: a shared screen, with setup requirements
HomeView has a 7-inch display and supports a personalized experience for up to six household members. Apple’s store says setup requires an iPhone running iOS 27.2 or later, or an iPad running iPadOS 27.2 or later. Check software compatibility before treating it as a standalone gift.
Apple says Siri AI is built into HomeView, but personal-context features need a paired Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad. That is different from simply having an iPhone that can complete setup. Compatible cameras and a supported iCloud+ plan are needed for the camera-recording features Apple describes; the screen’s purchase price is not the whole connected-home budget.

The price on the box is not the finished setup
The wall-mounted HomeView needs mounting hardware. Apple lists Schneider Home’s USB-C Wall Connector mount from $59.95 and AC Wired mount from $79.95. The $129.95 PoE Wired option is planned for early 2027, not launch. The least-expensive listed wall mount brings the hardware subtotal to $358.95 before tax and any installation cost.
HomePod mini 2 is a separate speaker decision, not a cheaper HomeView with the same screen features. Importantly, Apple says Siri AI on HomePod mini 2 will arrive in a future software update. Do not buy it assuming that promised capability is available on day one.
Apple says Siri AI also supports Apple TV 4K from the second generation onward, with compatible-device and software requirements. The new box is not automatically necessary for that feature. Check what your existing model will support before paying $299 for a replacement.
For every option, write down the exact job first: a shared kitchen display, television playback or room audio. Then list the equipment you already own and check the exact feature you would gain. Buying several boxes to recreate a working routine is not automatically better value.

Our take: announced does not mean worth replacing
Our value position remains: still not worth the price as a default upgrade. That is an editorial judgment, not a finding that the products perform badly. We have not tested the new hardware, measured its sound, or checked its everyday reliability.
A dedicated shared display may be useful to someone whose household will actually use it. A new streaming box or speaker may also solve a specific limitation. But compare the complete cost against that one benefit, rather than treating an announcement as a reason to replace everything.
If your current setup already does what you need, keep it. If a new feature matters enough to justify the cost, verify its release status, compatibility and final checkout delivery estimate first. We would rather revisit the recommendation with real testing than turn a product presentation into a review score.
